What’s so great about the Elmwood Spa Beauté Neuve Facial?
To answer that question, we need to consider the differences between facials, peels and more invasive processes, such as microdermabrasion.
Facials
A facial uses cleansers, toners and exfoliants. Most facials use steam to open up the pores and prepare the skin for extractions on the forehead, nose and chin – where oil tends to accumulate. Your aesthetician gently removes the dead cells and dullness and clears the surface to allow all the moisture to penetrate, leaving all the fresh new skin cells.
Peels
There are micro peels and acid peels. If you know anything about peels, chances are you think of oranges, grapefruits, lemons and limes, which would be the acidic type of peel. When used on your skin, anything acidic will exfoliate, but what you’re really looking for in a peel, is something a little more sophisticated — agents that achieve exfoliation, while also nourishing and balancing the skin, and that encourage cell renewal while smoothing the skin. Peels do more for your skin than facials, because targeted formulations can be used to treat certain conditions.
Microdermabrasion
Then there are more invasive processes, such as microdermabrasion, a cosmetic procedure that partially or completely removes the stratum corneum (dead outermost surface of the skin, by light abrasion from jets of zinc oxide or aluminum oxide crystals, fine organic particles, or a roughened surface. Microdermabrasion is used for the treatment of acne, to remove sun-damaged skin and to remove or lessen scars or dark spots on the skin. Microdermabrasion is not offered at Elmwood Spa at the present time.
Elmwood Spa’s Beauté Neuve Facial
The Beauté Neuve facial is more than a ‘regular’ facial or a routine exfoliation, but less invasive than microdermabrasion. This unique facial is a four-phase treatment of approximately 50 minutes in duration, designed to remove or minimize imperfections and bring the skin back to a renewed beauty and luminosity.
Guests considering the Beauté Neuve Facial should be aware that this is a treatment facial, not a deep cleansing facial using steam and extractions. A treatment facial is geared toward certain problems with the skin. Beauté Neuve is a Double Peeling Treatment with Fruit acids, Glycolic Acids and Pure Vitamin C; a treatment for Anti-aging cell renewal, youthful radiance and anti-pigmentation actions.
The Beauté Neuve facial treatment combines medical research with skincare expertise to create a professional skin renewing treatment that can be used on all skin types, including sensitive, and every age group.
With fatigue, stress or age, skin loses its radiance and elasticity and pigmentation marks may appear. The epidermis is blocked by ‘dehydrated cells’, cell renewal slows down and the complexion appears dull or congested. One Beauté Neuve treatment will restore radiance and a course of three treatments for an anti-pigmentation or lightening effect, removes the dead cells and helps the skin to fully breathe again.
